In English we have been learning how to identify different types of texts. We sorted books into fiction, non-fiction and poetry.
In Science we have been learning about materials and identifying which materials can be recycled and how we can do our bit to look after our lovely planet.
In English we have been practising our reading skills by reading some letters. Our phonics skills are very good and we are becoming very confident in reading a range of texts independently and with a partner.
We enjoyed our second annual trip to The Orchard. We spotted lots of signs of the changing seasons and learned lots about plants and animals in our local area.

We have been investigating the properties of materials. We have been practising using the correct vocabulary when discussing what we found out.
This half term we are learning the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We started off by baking some cakes to take to Grandma’s house. I wonder who we will meet along the way?
We worked together with Year 2 to put on a Nativity performance for our families and the local community. We enjoyed getting dressed up and sharing the story of the birth of Jesus.
We visited the local church to work with Reverend Maureen and members of the local community to learn the Christmas story.
Year 1 visited the air museum in Newark to support our learning about Amelia Earhart and aviation. We had an amazing time looking at different types of planes and how they have changed over time. We even got to sit inside some of the planes!
In history, we are learning about Amelia Earhart. We made our own biplanes in design technology.
We have been learning the story of the Gingerbread Man. We enjoyed making our own delicious gingerbread and have written our own versions of the story.
We visited Stonebridge City Farm as part of our science and geography learning. We had an amazing time visiting animals and investigating different plants. The staff were so impressed with our exemplary behaviour that they emailed school to say what a pleasure it had been having us visit.
We have been working hard in PE to develop our movement and coordination.
We enjoyed our visit to the Orchard to take part in some outdoor learning.
We went to our local church for a Christmas experience. We enjoyed meeting members of our local community and finding out all about the Christmas story and why it is an important event for Christians.
In history we have been learning about the history of aviation. We had an amazing visit to Newark Air Museum and learned lots of interesting facts.
