Sycamore Academy, part of L.E.A.D. Academy Trust, has announced the appointment of Emma Thorne as its new Headteacher.

Emma brings with her nearly three decades of experience in education and a long-standing commitment to the St Ann’s community, where she has worked for the past 14 years.

For the past 10 years, she has served as Headteacher at St Ann’s Well Academy, another school within L.E.A.D. Academy Trust, where she worked closely with a dedicated team to drive school improvement and strengthen links with local families and organisations. Before that, she spent 16 years as a SENDCo, developing a deep understanding of inclusive education and the importance of supporting every child to achieve their best.

In addition to her professional experience, Emma holds a National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) and specialist qualifications in teaching and supporting children with dyslexia, accredited by AMBDA/ATS (the recognised professional bodies for dyslexia specialists). These credentials reflect her commitment to lifelong learning and her belief in evidence-informed leadership.
